Abstract: This report describes measuring devices, data processing and numerical methods to measure and analyse transient magnetic fields in the Jülich TEXTOR tokamak. Six Hall-plates were mounted onto a smal car running on wooden rails which was automatically positioned into 29 different places by a PDP11/40 computer. In three equi distant points lying on the same cross section of the toroidal vacuum vessel of TEXTOR the vertical and radical component of the magnetic induction were measured by a Hall-plate. The results of this measurements were stored on-line in the PDP11/40 and prepared for subsequent further analysis. In off-line calculations the amplitudes and decay rates of the exponetially decaying part of the magnetic field were determined. This part is caused by eddy currents in the steel structure of TEXTOR. The reporta closes with a sample of the measuring results.
